“A beautiful send off “ for Pedro 💙
Love to “The girls”, family & friends

The passing of Pedro brings with it many fond memories and a great sense of loss. Pedro was a funny, fun-loving soul whose infectious laugh and quick wit could brighten any day. I left Gunbower in my late teens; however, prior to that, I had the opportunity on more than one occasion to spend time with Pedro. Those times were filled with clever quips, endless yarns, and plenty of laughter. He was also a generous, community-minded man who was always willing to lend a hand. Pedro now joins Claire and they’ll always be remembered as two of the most caring, welcoming, and fun-loving people you could ever hope to meet. My deepest heartfelt condolences to all family members and dear friends.
What a huge gap to fill. Can’t think of anyone who will do it as well as you. So much fun and laughter. What an amazing imagination to come up with all the antics.
So many great memories from taking turns, in pairs, doing the Kraft milk run, Lan and I one week, Vick and Mark another week, to camping out at Mt. Hope rabbit trapping and the Murray River for fishing and roaming around. Spending many nights at each of our homes as families together having a BBQ or watching horror movies. There was always something exciting happening. Happy Days.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible bond and mateship that Pedro and Micko (Max Hawken) had formed from their school days and throughout their entire lives. Amazing stories I wish we could hear again.
Condolences and love to the entire family from Owen, Mark and Lita Hawken.
To Vic, Ched & Tina

Lots of great memories over the years, think of all the good times.
Love Kay Ayres.
A great man will be missed by the whole community. Rest in peace.
Condolences to Vicki, Cherrie & Teena, you have had a very sad year.
Cousin Pete (Pedro) & I were checking out an old tobacco kiln up near Uncle Harry’s house when we were teens, & we found some dried-up tobacco leaf. We decided to crush some up & put it in a cigarette tin with a slice of potato to make it moist. We left it for a few days to become moist. We then rolled a couple of smokes in some newspaper & had to decide where we could go to try it out. The best place was in a big red gum hollow stump near the “smithy”. We had just settled in & lit up & had a good bit of smoke going, when all of a sudden over the top of the stump came a bucket of water, with Uncle Harry telling us that we were too young to smoke. That was the quickest shower that we ever had!
Fond memories of a life long friend & cousin.

My deepest sympathy to all the family.

My name is Dennis Dickinson, son of Richard (Dick) and Betty Dickinson AND the nephew of Pete. It is with great sorrow that I write to Vick, Tina and Cherrie. All my love and sympathy to you. You three have had an extremely hard year. There was only seven years in age between Pete and me and I thought of Pete as my older brother and that he was bullet proof. I’m going to tell one story. Pete decided to build a Billy cart. It was made out of corrugated iron and heavy timber and it had a roof which made it hard to get in and out of. In Pete’s wisdom he decided to push the cart up the hill which was opposite Gran and Pop”s house which was an effort on it’s own. Well we got up the hill and it was my job to drive it down. I squeezed in and off I went, Got half way down and I got the steering rope all tangled up. Well all hell broke loose. The cart went ass over tit and guess what? Not a scratch on me. My son and I gate crashed their 50th wedding anniversary and Greg, my brother, and I remarried them. You will have to ask Vick for the results of that. It is with much love I send this to all.
From Den.
To the Dickinson family, our deepest sympathy to you all.
Pedro is back with his Claire and Lan.
He was a man who knew what he wanted.
RIP Pedro.
Jeanette & Kevin. 💔💔
The world is going to miss you Pedro, you are true local legend, always full of cheek and large as life with so many stories.
A couple I remember,
Pedro randomly chased a flock of sheep around Sea Lake with the Murray 2 Moyne bus and 12 bikes on the back to help a farmer get them back into the paddock.
One of my fav story’s is when Pedro was invited to go to Africa with Alby and the dentist was too busy to rip his aching tooth out before he got on the plane, so he tied the tooth to a foot valve with fishing line, drank half a dozen VB’s and threw the foot valve as far as he could ripping the tooth clean out.
What about those Dragon Boats on the Gunbower Pedro, if you tell the kids of today I’m sure they wouldn’t believe you.
A life worth celebrating.
Vick, Ched and Tina. My deepest sympathy to you all. Your dad was a wonderful man and he will be missed terribly. Sending love to you all and your families.
Love Kerian. xxxx
Sympathy to Pedro’s family & friends. Thinking of you all he will be missed.
❤️Kate & Kevin.
The man the “swift” the legend is what he told me to call him. Pedro you did so much for so many but your family was your biggest achievement. The Aquatic Festival, the little Pedro train, so much to remember fondly. To Vick, Cherrie and Teen, our love goes out to all of you. To the many grandies I’m sure the stories will continue and grow bigger with each telling of Pedro’s tales. Pedro reunited with Claire and Lan. You will be missed by all the Dillon/Ibbs families. Condolences also passed on from Ron (Grinner).
So much to say when it comes to my dear friend Pedro. Of all the people in my life he holds the record for making me laugh the most. Both he and Claire had my most cherished human quality humility. They never talked or bragged about all the unpaid work they did for Gunbower. Why? For nothing but the love of Gunbower.
Many times he left me in jaw dropping surprise. Five years ago I enjoyed a lunch with the family. I was talking about how I needed another car & how difficult I found that job so I usually just paid full price. I didn’t know how closely he was listening. But a week later I did.
He rang me “Jane I’ve got a car for you to buy now!” I could hear him talking to the salesperson just flat out telling him no way your getting 23k! Then “Claire stand near the car so I can get photos for Jane!” Then I heard “Alright I’ll give you 20.5k but hang on that better include tinted windows & floor mats!” God love him he’d just saved me 2.5k & done something I dreaded even thinking about! A day later I told him “Pedro I’ve got 15.5k but the bank says I’ll need to wait a month to access the other 5k” Quick as a whip he says “Don’t worry about that I’ll give you 5k & you can pay me back when you get your money” What a guy! Five years later & I have never had a problem with my car.
Thanks for taking me & Vick on the midnight shift in the Kraft milk tanker when we were nine & I hardly knew you. It was freezing in the middle of winter & I accidentally drenched you with the pressure hose. I stood scared how you’d react. What did you do. You doubled over with laughter. I knew then I’d met someone special I could trust.
So glad we spent 1.5 hours together last Sunday just you & me. We laughed the whole time. Left me with such happy memories. Thanks for that.
I’ll miss you a lot but think of you every November when I always look down the main street at the magnificent brilliant red bottle brushes lining the street because you & friends did that. Why? For the love of Gunbower of course.
To Vicky, Cherrie, Tina and families. You’ve suffered so much loss of late and to now loose your Dad is a terrible thing. So sorry to hear of another sadness for you all.
Our love and deepest condolences to Vick, Cherrie, Tina and all of the grandchildren. Reunited with his beautiful Claire and loved daughter Lan.
We are saddened but have lots of memories of a fun loving uncle. He exaggerated many of his stories whether they be fact or fiction. He was an entertainer to the finish. Pedro the Swift has left the building.
Jude, Ross and family. 💕💕
What can someone say about Pedro. As a friend, customer and fellow Lions member. He was Tail Twister for the Lions Club for many years. His quick wit and to make up stories was unmatchable. He could make up a story about a fly on the window sill and you would split your sides in laughter. Pedro is one of the legends of Gunbower.
A very sad year for the Dickinson’s.
To Vickie, Cherrie and Tina and families my heart goes out to you all. Condolences to you all. Keep all the memories close to you heart.
Pedro might have fallen off the perch but his memories will last a life time.
RIP Pedro. 😭🙏♥️

Such sadness, so soon after his gorgeous wife Claire & daughter Leanne (Lan). Such a lovable character, Pedro you will be missed by many. Rest peacefully with your girls in heaven. Deepest sympathy to all his family.
Condolences to Vicki, Cherrie and Tina. Pedro has been a great influence, neighbour and always dedicated to the Gunbower community cause. Never one to let go of an opportunity for a good story. Will be sadly missed.
So sad to hear of Pedro’s passing.. gone to join Clare and Leanne..the end of a great Gunny legendary couple.. remembered with fondness..Max and Andrea Bowland 💕
Pedro, I’ll miss you. You were a great friend to the family. Lots of love to you and the girls (I hope there’s a bar up there have a drink on me and the old man). Miss you.
My love to all of Pedro’s family and friends, such a sad loss to us all. It’s been a sad couple of months for all of us losing Claire and then his darling daughter Leanne, since then Pedro’s heart was broken and now he is now reunited with them. 💔💔. He’s a sort of legend of Gunbower , but his girls were his life, he loved his times he would go camping, well it was more of having a drink and telling stories to his grandkids and the kids of his mates. We’ll miss you Pedro, now at rest💔💔😘😘😘
