Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life, unknown author.
On behalf of Denise and me, we offer our sincere condolences and sympathy to the family for the passing of Esme Wynona (Nona) Dehne.
Nona, as she was known to all of us, created and cared for our family along with her husband Alf, of whom she is enormously proud.
Respected and loved for her guidance and wisdom, she gave so much to her family as she has to the wider community.
I had the pleasure of working with Nona for several years at the Daycare Centre and on some bus tours; her knowledge and memory were indispensable in making each day out so enjoyable for everyone.
Nona’s early life is of great interest. She lived with her family on the edges of Kow swamp, where they were fishermen, and later became fully part of our community by marrying Alf Dehne. As each Dehne family member grew up under Nona’s loving care and influence, they were left with many principles and wisdom that became their guiding light as they continued their own life journey.

It takes rain and sunshine to make a rainbow, unknown author.
Nona’s life journey will be remembered for her resilience in facing the ups and downs that lay ahead. Her contribution to the community was marked by freely giving her time and knowledge to a wide range of organisations, and she was known for being part of the dairy farming community from time to time.
We will all recall many of the sunny moments Noni created. She loved an audience; she knew how to tell a joke and would often be a little bit risqué. Nona created smiles and laughter for many. Never afraid to express her opinion in a way that was so much about common sense and respect for others.
Time after time, Noni left people feeling as if they’d just seen a rainbow, thanks to the laughter sparked by the value of the points Noni wished to embed in one’s mind.
Life can be judged in many ways, such as the wealth one might have, the status of one’s position, or other titles that society often bestows. This sort of judgement means very little to the people you meet along life’s journey, whether they are short-term or long-term friends and colleagues.
Nona Dehne, time after time, enriched many lives and left behind so many memories that are valued now. Take the time to reflect upon and cherish the contribution she made to her family, Leitchville, and the wider community, which Noni was a vibrant part of.
Life race well run,
Life’s work well done,
Life’s victory one
Now comes the rest,
EH Parker
Noni, thank you very much for sharing your life’s journey with our community, leaving us with memories, knowledge, and wisdom to reflect on. Always remembered, never to be forgotten.
Max and Denise Fehring.
Nona gave me and my family so many precious memories and shared with us skills and wisdom for which we will always be grateful.
Cooking and sewing were often at the heart of our conversations, and some of our fondest times were those we spent together in various milking sheds throughout the district.
Vale Dear Nona — a true lady whose kindness, strength, and grace were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her.
Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Nona’s immediate and extended families.

Sincerest condolences to the Dehne family, on the passing of Noni – a life lived well, with a large family and many friends to share it with.
We fondly remember meeting Noni for the first time at Barbie’s 40th birthday in Rosebud. Noni arrived on a bus loaded with people from the Cohuna, Leitchvilla area.
She was the life of the party, entertaining us with songs and jokes, all while dressed as a fairy in a tutu – unforgetable!
Rest in peace dearest Noni
Nona was one very special lady. Loved her jokes. And stories. My condolences to all her family.
Of which she had plenty, all the birthday cards we had to get every month.
Nona was one of a kind. So many memories. Your wit and kind heart to all you met along the way. You and your mate Sue milked Saturday nights so Col could play cricket for a few years. The kids treasure those days too. Thinking of Trevor, Bruce, Barbara, John, Jeff, Ken, and all the extended family. Rest peacefully Kath and Colin.🌺
My condolences to all the Dehne family on the sad departure of Nona.
My thoughts are with you all at this time. 🙏❤️

Our sympathies to the entire family. Nona had a wonderful sense of humour and loved to entertain with her antics. A wonderful friend to my Grandmother Win for many years.
Rest peacefully Nona.
Dear Nona, memories if you milking our cows many many years ago. The beautiful artwork you did and showed us at Caritas. Always at Christmas dinner with Caritas there would be something special you had made and everyone scrambling around the table trying to get it. The jokes you told. You will be missed by a lot of people especially in Leitchville.
R.I.P Noni.
Special lady, special memories.
Deepest sympathy to all the Dehne families on your loss of “Nona”, a lovely lady who will be missed by many. 💔

From Val, Noel, Karen, Glenda, Colin, Noeleen, Paul & Lisa Schwencke & families.
Deepest sympathies to Noni’s entire family. A Leitchville legend for certain but just pretty legendary in herself I would say. It was only a little while ago that Noni came along to Shepo’s Whey with some of her family, she loved it. The ride in the trailer was her favourite part I’m sure as she reminisced about her younger years of riding on hay rides. Her happy scream as we went down a big slope & I do remember her saying “Can we do it again?”!! RIP Noni – yours was certainly one hell of a ride. xxx
Cath (Whyte) & Mick Shepard.
Nona was a lovely legend for Leitchville… whenever there was something on, she was there helping… footy club, concerts… her family… lots of memories… sympathy to her big family.
From Raylene and Gary Hore.
Oh my beautiful Noni. 💔
6 years ago I met you, a weekly outing turned into weekly visits, park plays with the kids, rummy-o games, lots of adventures and more importantly lots of laughs. You took me on numerous adventures, you being passenger princess. I’ll never forget it.
I wish we got time to fill out the book of jokes you use to tell us all the time.
So glad I met you, so glad you love my girls just like your own. We will forever miss you beautiful lady. Thanks for all the memories.
My thoughts are with all Nona’s family. She was truely amazing.
Love you forever Nona, we will miss your ‘granny kisses’ 💗
Rest in Paradise 💐 xxxxx
Dear Nona, special memories of a lovely lady from our Leitchville years. RIP Nona.
