All at Kerang Bowling Club were saddened to hear of the passing of Athol. He had an inimitable presence around the Club as a bowler, encourager and jovial friend. Athol joined KBC in July 1991 and held a number of positions including Tournament Secretary 96-98; coach 1998- 2002, Vice President, Club delegate and RVBA representative 2004 – 05 and He served as Secretary in 2013-15 and was instrumental in getting entries from far and wide for our Annual Classic Triples which were renamed as the “Athol Stephen Classic Triples” in recognition of his invaluable service from 2005-21. Our sincere sympathy to all of the family. A life well lived Athol XX.
We both have good memories of playing bowls.

Thank you ‘Pa’ for being the best father-in-law I was blessed to have. We had the best times together and you will be forever in my heart. ❤️
Sorry to hear this sad news – a pillar of the stock & station industry & in retirement, a mentor/advisor in the bowls area. Was always great to have a chat about horses & bowls over recent times – the No ESS Syndicate has lost its leader. Can’t be with you on Friday, but will be thinking of you all – best wishes Aldo & Judy.
So sorry to hear of Athol’s passing. A true gentleman always up for a chat and a laugh xx
Sincere condolences to Athol’s extended family, I know you will miss him as we all will. When he left Fitzroy Street where we would drop in and see him for our session of trying to fix all the world problems, yes Athol things have certainly gone backwards since. Perhaps your guidance from above may get better results. Having worked with Athol at the Kerang Bowling Club was always a pleasure, we didn’t always agree but it brought about a good discussion for a better result. His tireless work on our February Classic Triples — now known as the “ATHOL STEPHEN CLASSIC” was way above expectation. His overall knowledge on the Committee when we were negotiating to get the “Kerang Sports & Entertainment Venue” up and running was of immense value. Athol you were one we considered a friend, who would always “cover your back”. Your 92+ years would have had more in them than most people would dream of. Rest peacefully Athol.
George / Edward & Gloria Fenton.
Thinking of you Wayne and sympathy to all the families, Athol has been around a long time it seems.
Never easy, never ready.
I remember Athol & Bev at Swan Hill before Kerang. Always friendly & respected.
So sorry to read of Athol’s passing. We enjoyed many years of friendship laughter and fun as we travelled to race meetings together following our often not so fast race horses. Thanks for your wisdom and guidance on many subjects over the years. Condolences to Athol’s family. Athol was a great man loved by many. Rest in peace dear friend.
Joe and Beryl ❤️❤️
