A great laugh and great sense of humor. The amount of times we yelled out over the fence to throw a ball back, or enjoying an apricot of the old tree near the fence.

On behalf of Denise and myself, we wish to express our sadness and condolences to Tania, Troy and the wider Robinson family on the passing of Bernie Robinson.
Bernie started life in a most interesting family — the Robinson’s — who are an icon in the town of Cohuna. Their association with dragline dredges and modern hydraulic excavators is what made the family stand out and become such an important part of our town’s history.
Bernie’s life was, in part, a scallywag’s life, working with his father, Bill, and his brothers as he started his journey through life.
It was a journey full of interest, with so many twists and turns that it would take many pages, or perhaps a book, to record them all. Every story or incident Bernie was involved in would be full of interest and intrigue.
His partnership with Dianne and the creation of their family were things he was very proud of. In many ways, he showed leadership, love and care for those around him.

Bernie’s friendship with many people would generally leave you with a smile on your face, perhaps a joke you didn’t quite understand, and above all, a sense of loyalty.
Bernie certainly dealt with ups and downs in life that were far from easy.
The sad loss of his beloved boys, Wayne and Craig, was a challenge that Bernie and Dianne faced in a very admirable way.
Our personal association with Bernie became particularly strong when he became a resident at the Cohuna Hospital nursing home. You were never quite sure what humour or mood Bernie would be in each day you arrived.
In my case, I would often take him out on the community bus, while Denise would read the local news to all of the residents.
Bernie certainly maintained a great sense of humour and strong opinions on many subjects. You always knew what Bernie was thinking, and he stood firm on the issues in life that mattered to him.
Tania and Troy, you have much to be proud of in having a father of such personality — sometimes a scallywag, as I would see him, but also a gentleman whenever that was required.
Whenever you met Bernie, whether for a short moment or over a lifetime, he could sit, listen and communicate in a way that made the experience better.
He was one of those people who enriched life simply by being who he was, with the pride he had in himself, his family and the Robinson family as a whole.

As we say goodbye, we will cherish the memories and the many ways you contributed to the lives of those around you.
We hope you will enjoy your next journey as you reunite with Dianne, Craig and Wayne.
