Deepest sympathies and condolences you Val, and family. Our families have had generational associations and many memories. I am so sorry I did not know of Linton’s passing. I certainly would have been there at his funeral otherwise It was only a couple of weeks ago that I shook hands with Linton and you at the Caledonian event in the Pyramid Hill Hall. You both looked well. I am shocked. Kindest regards from myself and all the Mellier neighbour family.
A true gentleman So sad to hear of his passing . RIP old timer you were truly one of the best.
Condolences to Val and family
This wonderful man used to visit my store every day to collect his Bendigo Advertiser & Herald Sun. I’d keep them aside in case they sold out. He was an absolute hoon on his mobility scooter! He was a gentleman – the perfect stranger. Cheeky & witty. I was astounded that at 90 (nearly 91) he whipped out his smartphone and showed me photos of his recent aerial adventure – I’m 31 and I’d never do it – and then he said he wanted to try sky diving!! We often chatted about fishing & spots in the Pyramid area. I proudly showed him a photo on my phone of the very nicely sized cod I’d caught on the weekend because he jokingly said I’d made the story up and he laughed and jokingly suggested I’d lied about the size. Luckily I put a ruler against it in the next photo. The next weekend I was going to Gunbower to fish and had to admit to him on Monday that all I caught were carp.. The next day, I had off and he came in to get his newspapers and asked my staff member if I was off sick for having “carp belly”.. I recently took a couple of weeks off work and when I returned, I’d set his papers aside every day but he didn’t come in to get them. Then I discovered the sad truth. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, because he brightened my day, every day. I’ll miss putting a Herald Sun & Bendigo Addy aside for him, more importantly, I’ll miss our chats.
