On behalf of Denise and I, we would like to offer our sincere condolences to you, June and your family regarding Ray’s passing.
From the first time I met Ray on his arrival in Cohuna, there was no nonsense and pure straight-talking. His humour and play on being an English Pom brought many people a lot of laughter and enjoyment.
He lived an interesting life, trying many occupations while maintaining his love of pigeon racing in those Ray met through this pursuit.
Ray was someone who, once you met him, left you feeling enhanced by the time you spent with him. He would help anyone, provide sound advice and common sense, and be very clear in his principles regarding how he lived.
I was lucky enough to enjoy Ray’s banter when I was with him and his great-mate Cliff Dwyer. Those moments were so enjoyable and will be more precious than ever as I remember Ray now and into the future.
The Northwest Mallee Combine Pigeon Club members will also miss Ray’s humour, banter, and personal guidance in preparing the pigeons for the upcoming race.
As we say farewell to Ray, I’m sure we will all remember him or us for being himself, husband, father, and grandfather to his family, who he was so proud of.
These two verses say it all
I expect to pass through this world, but once
Any good, therefore, that I do
Or any kindness that I can show
Let me do it now
Let me not defer or neglect for
I shall not pass this way again
Life’s race well run,
Life’s work well done
Life’s victory won,
Now come of the rest
