On behalf of the Kerang Dance Club, we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Hinton family on the passing of Catherine Veronica (Von) Hinton, a dearly loved and respected member of our Dance club.
Although Von’s dancing days were over in recent times, she, along with her daughter Cherice and husband Kevin, would continually come to our weekly dance events and our monthly dance to reminisce, enjoy the music, and talk about the days of old-time dancing with her husband Les and the many venues in our community where Old Time / Nu Vouge dance occurred.
Von’s memory of events and people was quite amazing. She always had a story to share and a memory to enjoy with fellow dancers, reminding us of her deep connection and positive influence on our community, which fosters gratitude and admiration.
Von was one of those people who, if you met her and spent time with her, would leave you feeling a little better about yourself, always approaching each day with a positive attitude. Often, Von expressed her thoughts clearly and passionately, another of her strong personal characteristics. Her stories and warm presence touched everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression of her vibrant spirit.
As we all go through the journey of life, it’s the people you meet who make life what it is in so many ways. In Von’s case, she always stayed true to herself, enriching many lives, whether through a brief casual meeting or the long-term friendships and relationships we all had with her.
Von, along with her late husband Les, created and raised a family and went on to contribute in so many ways to the communities where they lived. No doubt they will be grateful for the love and care she gave, as well as the common sense and wisdom they now appreciate.

It takes rain and sunshine to make a rainbow.
In recent years, Von has faced many ups and downs; each time, she regained her strength and spirit to spend time with us again, especially in the Dance Club, inspiring us with her resilience and determination.
There is no doubt that Von, through her resilience and strength of character, created a lasting legacy that leaves us with many cherished memories of her contributions to her family, community, and all of us who knew her.
Von, the last dance is about to take place as you go on your journey to join your beloved husband, Les.
Life’s race well run,
Life’s work well done
Life’s victory one,
Now cometh rest
