A great lady and nurse, you will be missed R.I.P Wendy
Wendy was my cousin. She was less than a year older than me. I attended her funeral earlier today. Her death is a great tragedy for her family and the Cohuna community but especially for her mother Jean. No parent expects to out-live their children. While I was very pleased to hear about her great work at the Cohuna Hospital at today’s service, I ask you to acknowledge that there were other Wendys and to remember Wendy as a young girl. I especially remember spending a week and more on Wendy’s parents’ farm in Bunnaloo in the early 1960s. Wendy assumed the role of host. He took me around, showing me all aspects of the farm, with her sister Robin following along. She certainly educated a “town kid”. Her approach was a mix of information and “showing off”. I loved every moment of the experience. Wendy was a “person of influence” in my life. I thank her, I commend her for professional achievements and I acknowledge her great influence within the Cohuna community. Each of us depends upon people like Wendy who think beyond themselves and consider, more generally, the community that they support. Wendy was a hero of many lives. Her family should be, and are, very proud of the life of Wendy Fletcher. She was a person of great influence.
We only knew Wendy for a very short time .We’re sorry for that but we will remember her for her friendship and company
So saddened to hear of the passing of Wendy. She was a wonderful nurse, calm and capable, and a pleasure to work with. Sending deepest sympathy to Gordon and all the family. Gone too soon.xx
