I just came across this and I am saddened by the loss of Alex. I met him when he was VQ9CCT and depolyed on the lovely island of Diego Garcia at the same time I was there as an Airborne Electronic Warfare Operator with the US Navy. I was flying on EP3Es and Alex on the RAAF P3. We both were Ham Radio operators at the Shack (I was VQ9RS) and we
had many many hours of laughter and stories we shared. My fondest memory was when he departed he left a present on my operating position in the shack. A Case of
West End Lager.
Heres to you Alex. May you be on the forever patrol
RIP Alex. Thoughts and condolences to your family and friends. Such a kind soul with great stories will be sadly missed.

I knew Alex briefly at RAAF East Sale when we on 32 (Air Navigators) Course, along with his course 2 (Air Electronics) Course, did our twelve weeks Basic Training.
I recall him trying, quite unsuccessfully, to teach me the Art of Playing Billiards.
Our paths crossed again at RAAF Laverton and at RAAF Edinburgh and I was always greeted as if no time had passed.
Alex was ALWAYS friendly, generous and inclusive, which makes his passing a great loss to all who knew him.

Dear Alex, memories of one of Dad’s scouts. Important to us when we were growing up. RIP Alex
Since first meeting Alex in January 1966 when we started of No 2 AEO Course RAAF he has been a life long friend. He was one of a kind, generous and forgiving, who demanded nothing from others and always a gentleman. He was often heard to say that any woman who married him would have to be crazy and he did not wish to marry a crazy woman, however the wives of many of his friends just loved to mother him.
My condolences to his family and many old friends. RIP SQNLDR Alex Taylor. (VK3AET ex VK3CCT, VK5CCT, VK9YA plus a few others I cannot remember).
