We wish to encourage you to express your sympathies and condolences to the family via a post on this announcement which the family are able to access and read.
Joel was our neighbour and one of our best friends when we were kids growing up. His love of life, his exuberance and his sense of humour peppered our young days with so many good memories. The strongest of those memories were in our wagon days when we found an old wagon on Banool Station, a one eyed draft horse called Violet, and some harness from old Bill Gael.
We set up the wagon for camping and off we went. We didn’t sleep much as Joel was on the go both day and night always looking for more fun. One Easter we camped near Appin on the Loddon and decided to set a small gill net where the main channel went under the Loddon River. Despite Joel getting up early and anxiously waiting for the rest of us to wake up, the sun was well up when we decided to check our net. We were still a fair way off when we heard a commotion and some raised voices and while observing from a well concealed position on the opposite bank we watched our net being cut to pieces as a group of angry fishermen tried to retrieve their lines and flapping fish from “our waterhole”
I know everyone who met Joel would have similar memories and I for one feel a happier person for having known him.
Condolences to Howard and Sonia who were also part of that wonderful neighbourhood family.
Hello Ben and Pat, Dot McIntosh (Wallace) remembers the Dickson family fondly too. I would love to make contact with you if possible please call or email me. Dorothy

Our sympathy go to family members. Joel was a neighbour of ours when we worked on Banool in the late 1960’s. Our in-laws Billy & Hilda Dickson were great friends of your mum & dad. Continuing to represent the Dickson family, we again have great recall of members of the Westblade family. Pat & Ben Wright.
