To Ann, Tim and Matt,
We are so sorry for your loss of Lucie.
Thinking of you Peter & Christine Coleston.
To Ann, Mark, Matt, Tim and families
What a beautiful send off for Lucie yesterday. I feel so privileged to have been there and celebrated her life with her dear family. Thankyou for sharing her with us. It was an absolute gift to have known and worked with her at SWBIRS.
She will always remain in our hearts as a respected and very much friend. She will be so sorely missed.
“She lived and laughed and lived and left.
And we are all enriched for having known her.”
Sending much love as you navigate this difficult time ahead.
Jenny Poyner.
My sincere condolences to Mark and to Lucie’s family. I watched the live stream of Lucie’s service and I was moved to hear about her childhood, family, education and her stellar career achievements etc. Lucie obviously would have achieved a lot more in her life if she wasn’t taken so early. Life is so unfair sometimes. Whilst, I never met Lucie, I did work with her partner Mark many years ago in the Hospitality industry in Wodonga. Mark would always talk fondly about his “Lucie-Goosey”! And I will never forget Lucie guiding us all through the Covid pandemic with timely updates and information during that confusing time. Although, I haven’t seen Mark now for many years, I was saddened to learn of Lucie’s passing two weeks ago.
Just take one day at a time for now, Mark.
Our sincere condolences to you dear Ann, Tim, Matt and Mark for your loss of your beautiful Lucie, thinking of you all and hope in time you share more of the love you felt and had for your Lucie, love to you all and other family members too.
From Marie and Des Hudson.
Lucie it was my absolute pleasure working with you as an executive at AWH. You were always so kind and supportive to me and I’ll be forever grateful.
To Mark, Ann and the Shanahan family, I am so sorry for your loss. What an extraordinary human, what an extraordinary life.
To Mark & Family, Lucie was one of kind and will be so missed. Sincerest condolences to you all.
Lee & Paul Hadley.
Lucie has been an inspiration to so many of us. Her kindness, sharp humour and mind will be deeply missed. I was extremely fortunate to have known her. With my deepest and sincerest sympathies to you all.
Taken from Romans 12:5-16. This is my memory of Lucie.
Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us exercise them: If one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Dear Mark, Ann, Tim and Matt,
We are so sorry for your loss. Lucie was a remarkable person and the world is not the same without her in it. I was lucky enough to work with her and to consider her my mentor and friend. She was kind, compassionate, whip smart and brave and I learnt so much from her. Sending you all so much love – she will forever be in our hearts.

My thoughts are with Lucie and her family.
Lucie was one of the most exceptional people I have ever met. I was fortunate enough that she was the subacute director when I was an OT in rehab. I’ll forever be grateful for all the help and insight she provided to me. She was funny, down to earth yet so bloody smart- she had this amazing way of never giving you the answer but guiding you in the direction to work it out yourself but in a very helpful manner!
Lucie, you will still continue to be someone I look up to an amazing role model and someone I will inspire to be like. I feel so lucky I knew you and was in your presence. Thankyou for the time you gave me.
Rest in peace Luce. How lucky this world was to have you in it! Xxx
Dearest Ann, Matt, Tim, Mark and families, please accept our deepest and heartfelt condolences. We shall remember fondly the times shared with Lucie, she will be sadly missed. What a horrible year you have all had! Our thoughts are with you with much love.
Our overseas families have asked us to pass on their sympathy.
To Mark, Mrs Shanahan and the Shanahan Family, my sincere condolences on the loss of your Lucie. I worked alongside Lucie, then she was my manager and I so enjoyed working with her. She was intelligent, could see complexities and hold and value them all, had a quiet strength and encouraged all around her. And oh how she enjoyed a good story and laugh. We often shared family stories and a joke with love and laughter. And compassion and kindness were her trademark. Lucky to have have known her, sincere condolences to all who loved Lucie.
Lucie is warmly remembered by the Charles Sturt University Speech Pathology staff and students. Lucie’s valuable contribution to training the Australian Speech Pathology workforce is acknowledged by many who had the opportunity to learn under her guidance. She is a great loss to our profession but her considerable legacy will live on. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. Dr. Suzanne C. Hopf (Head of Speech Pathology Program).
Dear Family,
Very sorry for your loss, an extraordinary person and leader – very kind and compassionate. Also very effective in her role at Albury Wodonga Health.
I worked with Lucie (as Coordinator) while she was the Chair of the Ovens Murray Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Alliance which she set up following the 2019-20 bushfires in the region.
She was one of those rare executives with unbelievable capacity and skill to move things forward while also being very supportive of staff and people she worked with on the journey.
Love and prayers to you all.
Simon
To all of Lucie’s family I am so sorry for your loss. Lucie was truly an amazing lady who led with her heart and soul. She was an inspirational leader whose presence is already greatly missed, and will be for many years to come. I will miss her cheery smile and positive attitude, along with our great conversations.
Vale Lucie, thank you for everything.
My dearest condolences to Lucie’s family and friend Lucie was always down for a chat and was a pleasure to know and to talk too never took herself to seriously and was always down to help when she was able to
My deepest condolences to Lucie’s family. The world has lost a truely special person. Lucie has always been there in my career as a speechie. Right from the start at university through to working with her at AWH. She was always across what was happening in the speech world even during her leadership roles. She always led with kindness and always had people at the centre of all she did. She always had time to chat and often knew when someone needed to talk through something. Lucie had a way of leading you to the solution yourself or to see a problem from a different perspective. She was always a champion for allied health and always saw the potential in people even if sometimes they didn’t see it themselves. I will miss Lucie and her infinite wisdom but when I come across a challenge I know I will always think ‘what would Lucie do’ and at the forefront it will be act with kindness and put people first.
Lucie made the world a better place just by being in it. We are poorer for losing her, but by far the richer for having known her.
Thinking of all her family at this time.
Go in peace Lucie.
Dear Ann,
Although I only knew Lucie through our shared “mum” conversations, her description by so many as being kind, caring and compassionate could easily describe our past pre-school teacher – a daughter just like her mother.
Sending our love to you and all the family at this very sad time.
Anne and Peter Crane.
Sincere condolences to all Lucies family.
Luce, you will always be in my thoughts and be remembered, for your laughter, kindness, mentoring and support, during the years we knew each other and worked closely together at AWH.
The changes you made in MH, and the greater community, will be carried on through your amazing legacy for change and improvement. It has been an enormous privilege to know you and work with you.
Sending thoughts and prayers to your family during this difficult time. Susie Q (Sue Hughes).
The world is poorer without Lucie in it. A truly beautiful person, inspiring leader and deeply respected colleague and friend to so many. My sincere condolences to you all as you mourn the loss of your beloved Luce. As you can see by the consistency in the tributes of her work colleagues, she was loved beyond measure.
Lucie was a great friend and colleague, who lived a rich life and contributed so much to so many. Lucie and I worked together on adventure therapy-based rehabilitation for people with brain injury, in the early years of our careers. Our learnings from this work lifted our vision for what was possible for our clients and in our own work. Those programs we started are still running. Lucie went on to profoundly shape the local health service and to teach and inspire the next generation of clinicians. Her loss will be felt keenly across her vast network of work colleagues and friends. My thoughts are with her family and friends. We will never forget Lucie.
Matt Thomas
My deepest condolences to family and friends. Lucie was a remarkable leader and a truly amazing person who dedicated her life to improving the lives of others.
She will be hugely missed but never forgotten.
May she rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences and sympathy to Ann, Tim, Matt & Mark on the loss of Lucie.
Was just a year ago we met again at the occasion of her Uncles funeral and were reacquainted with Lucie, Robert and Ann. We witnessed her loving care for her Dad that day and heard from others about her remarkable career. Such a tragic loss for all those who loved and cared for her, worked with her and also the broader Albury community in health..
On behalf of the Walsh Family – Ursula, Angela, Katrina and Jacinta we send you our prayers.
We have all been blessed to know and work with Lucie. Her leadership, compassion, wit and generosity with her time will always be remembered. She was such an inspiration and support to so many of us and we hope that we will be able to demonstrate even a small amount of her compassion and strength. We feel privileged to have been a part of caring for her and helping with the transition from hospital to home. Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and loved ones.
Sending my sympathy & love to you Ann & your family. Lucie has left a lasting impression on all those who knew her.
Sympathy to Ann, Tim, Matt & Mark on the loss of Lucie.
Love & prayers to you all.
Des, Elizabeth & Renae Keely.
Dear Mark, Ann, Tim and Matt I’m so sorry about the passing of Lucie. I was so very lucky to work with Lucie at AWH for the past 5 years. Including lots of 1 on 1 time with her. I cherished her as soon as I met her. We had lots and lots of great conversations. I was lucky to go away on a conference with Lucie and have wonderful memories of that time that I will hold onto forever. Lucie told me lots of stories about her family that she adored and our last texts were about Cohuna and even though I am so so sad to never get another text from Lucie again I have re-read them and smiled at the memories. Lucie’s own big beaming smile my strongest memory. I’m so sad you are not here Luce, but I’m feel so so lucky that I met you. Onwards we go just as you would want X
My deepest condolences to the whole family and to Mark. Sending you comfort and peace.

Dear Ann, Tim, Matt, Mark and family. Thinking of you all at this time. Lucie was such a special person and our community have been so blessed to have known her.
Take care Anne, Andrew, Luke and family,
Dear Mark & Mrs Shanahan – my sincere sympathies to you both and the family – I feel like I know you both so well, but not actually met in person. For the almost 3 years I worked for Lucie at AWH as her EA. We shared many morning & afternoon cuppa’s regaling family stories and enjoyed many laughs, often uncontrollable, with chocolates added in (of course – we had our secret stash). Lucie is hard to describe with ordinary words – her love for the colour green unwavering, her enthusiasm infectious, her kindness unending, her empathy boundless, her thoughtfulness remarkable and her ability to give people her full and undivided attention and ear even when she didn’t have the time, extraordinary. She truly listened! When I left to move back to Adelaide with my husband, I truly grieved not working for her – we had a great bond and still kept in touch until more recent and devastating times. Lucie is one of the standouts in my career and will be etched forever in that space. Lucie you were one of the gifts of life and all who knew you and had the good fortune of being close to you, work or family, are truly lucky. Life can be very cruel and sometimes hard to fathom but something we all have to move with and accept. Mark, my thoughts and love are with you as you navigate this space in time – treasure the beautiful memories you had with her. Mrs Shanahan, you will take comfort knowing Lucie has joined her beloved Dad – my thoughts & love also with you and the family. Vale Luce!!
Jac Owen (Jacqui O) xx

On behalf of Denise, Max, and the Fehring family, we extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to Ann, Tim, Matt, Mark, and their families on the sad passing of Lucie Shanahan.

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything, Vincent van Gogh
Lucie was a vital part of the Ann and Rob’s family. The guidance, care, and love they gave her no doubt laid the principles of life that she so gracefully followed. In many ways, she would have considered herself fortunate to be part of such a caring family, living what many would call an ordinary life. But as she grew up, took various steps in life, and achieved her goals, Lucie also shared extraordinary gifts of friendship, care and knowledge with others. She helped many in her chosen career to find fulfillment in their lives, just as she did in hers.
Life can be judged in many ways—things like status, the position someone holds in society, and other norms we tend to use to evaluate people. But none of these really matter much, because it’s family and the people you meet along life’s journey who are most important. Lucie was one of those people who enriched lives time and again simply by being herself, listening, offering support and friendship, and giving advice and encouragement when it was needed.

Lucie consistently demonstrated all of these qualities. From her school days in Cohuna to the career she pursued, it was her kindness and caring approach that meant so much and brought great results to everyone she touched.

Life’s work well done
Life’s victory won
Now come with the rest.

Dear Ann, Tim, Matt and families, sincerest condolences on the passing of Lucie. I’ll remember her fondly for the lovely person she was. Rest peacefully Lucie.
Sincere condolences to all for your profound loss. I had the pleasure of working with Lucie at SWBIRS when as a young Speech Pathologist she displayed a wisdom, knowledge and capacity to authentically connect with everyone in a manner well beyond her years and clinical experience. Her brilliant mind and genuine compassion for others led her to achieve so much in her career, leaving a legacy and making a real difference. As a friend I will always remember her wit, humour, and ability to listen and respond in a manner that made you feel you really mattered. She will be loved and remembered by many.
Ann & families,
Was so shocked to read of your beautiful Lucie’s passing.

To Mark, Ann and families,
I was one of the many who had the privilege and joy of working with Lucie at SWBIRS, and smile as I remember her with much fondness. My thoughts are with you all as you mourn her passing and celebrate her rich life.
Over here in eastern Nepal, a long way from Cohuna, there’s a group of women whose lives were so enriched by meeting beautiful Lucie. Her light, that radiance that everyone associates with Lucie was so apparent. It won’t surprise anyone that there was lots of laughter, rueful smiles, and a strong sense of shared humanity. We are grateful that our lives were touched by Lucie. Who she was speaks volumes about the people around her. Thank you for sharing her with us. We send our heartfelt love to her ama, Annie, her dear Mark, her brothers and her friends. She’ll keep shining.
Love from Wendy, Kopila, Janice and all at Samunnat, Nepal.
I was so incredibly fortunate to work alongside Lucie when she visited clients in Deni. She was always kind and knowledgeable and considered in everything she did at work. I valued that relationship and enjoyed the friendship we then developed. I am so very sad and so terribly sorry for all she has been through and for how difficult this has and will be for you all. Lucie was one of the very best speechies and we always felt grateful to work alongside.
Dear Mark, Ann, Tim, Matt and families.
