So sad to hear that John has fallen off his perch. On behalf of the ‘Bird Club” and myself, I would like to express our sincere sympathies to Doris, Darryl and Julie and all the families. Just remembering all the fun times on our bus trips. If John was late getting on the bus, it was because he was chatting to someone. He loved his old engines and things. John was always willing to give a helping hand too. To Doris and the family, always remember the good times of which there are many.
To all the family I will remember John and never forget the happiness and character he shared. RIP john and fly free with the birds in paradise.
Love and hugs to all.❤🙏

Our most sincerest sympathy on the passing of your dear husband John and cousin to Geoff. Our thoughts are with you all. Love Geoff and Lois.
Most sincere condolences to Doris and John’s extended family. Back in the 1960’s [I think] our late father’s started doing farming transaction and later on it was with John, a very honest and trustworthy family to work with. Their word was always honoured. Out of this a lasting friendship was created. A life well lived John, not only will your family miss you but many, many other people also. Rest peacefully John. George & Edward Fenton

On behalf of
Cohuna Community Bus Committee.
Our deepest condolences and thoughts to Doris and families for the passing of John, husband, father, and grandfather, who all will greatly miss. John had an enquiring and inquisitive nature and an interest in many things, particularly in older machinery and mechanical devices, his love of travel around the countryside, and above all, the inevitable yarn and discussion that always took place when you met with John. Often, time didn’t matter.
John and Doris Mathers were a devoted couple who worked together got involved in many organisations, and always gave love and support to their family.
John is also the eldest of a broader family of relatives of a generation; he leaves many cousins with many memories and lots to cherish about the ways, manners, and idiosyncrasies John possessed.
As John John would most properly have said these words on his passing,
I expect to pass through this world, but once,
Any good, therefore, that I can do
Or any kindness that I can show
Let me do it now
Let me not defer or neglect for
I shall not pass this way again.
Cousin Denise and Max Fehring
To Doris & families, our deepest condolences. Nick & Sue Avery.
