A Memorial Service for Mrs Jean Cynthia HAWKEN will be held at the Leitchville Anglican Church on WEDNESDAY (25th January, 2023) commencing at 11.00am.
A Private Cremation has been held.

Have just learnt of Jean’s passing and saddened to hear of this . Jean was such a part of my childhood – in Brownies, GFS and throughout Sunday School. She was such a significant contributor to community life in Leitchville and a good friend to my parents. Condolences to Liz, John Andrew and Lesley on the loss of a wonderful aunt.

I would like to thank everyone for their touching comments about Jean. She was an icon in Leitchville and nothing was too much trouble for her and her care for the community.
I spent part of my early childhood and teen years living with my grandparents and Jean. They were all very special to me especially Jean was more like a ‘big’ sister and was very caring to me and subsequently my children Sarah & Andrew.
This is the end of an era for us all and I only have very happy memories of my time in Leitchville. Jean you will be greatly missed –

Jean was my mother Yvonne Wales cousin. I have very happy childhood memories of her at the Leitchville Post Office. She always took the time to catch up with us whenever we visited and was always interested in the news of family interstate & overseas. Jeannie & the Post Office were Leitchville icons to the Ferguson family.
