A truly beautiful tribute to Mrs Rogers as I always called her. She was a lovely lady who always made me feel welcome in her home. I always think of her whenever I make her banana cake which everyone loves and asks for the recipe, so I loved the story of her famous fruit cake. I shall have to ask Judy for the recipe next time we catch up. My last memories of Mrs Rogers (Betty) was popping in to visit her at Victoria Grange after my shift on days I worked there and having a chat. I’m not sure that she knew who I was exactly but she enjoyed a chat and I remember her one day proudly showing me her special album Judy made her and we sat together and looked at the photos.
Betty along with her late husband Don were valued members of Kerang Baptist Church for many years. Their commitment to the work of missions was among their many endeavors to spread the Gospel. Monthly prayer missionary meetings in their home, and president of Missionary Beehive were just 2 of Betty’s contributions to the church. Always ready at working bees and assistance in the kitchen made her a wonderful asset, along with a cheerful and humble spirit. A wonderful example of practical Christian living and greatly missed when she left Kerang. We honor her memory.
