We wish to encourage you to express your sympathies and condolences to the family via a post on this announcement which the family are able to access and read.
Farewell comrade. Never an easy task flying the flag for the ALP in Kerang but you did it with good grace and aplomb. Fond memories of the long and entertaining phone calls made to the offices of Candy Broad MP and Mark Gepp MP. Rest in peace old mate
KJ. A great mate for the past 52 years, through thick n thin. From the Outback toad trip adventure in the 1970’s (recounted many times over the years) to our Catch-ups at the Saints games. Usually a pregame Starbucks then an after match pot at the Mail Exchange. Great times. Always keeping me updated of news from the North. A walking sporting encyclopaedia, proud uncle who kept the connection and loyal friend to many. A fun character who was always there no matter what. Deeply missed.
Gryllsie always had a joke and compliment. A very nice man. We will miss your visits to work. Harley and Jo
Grylls-Gryllsie.
A real character in his own right.
He loved his Newspapers, Horse Racing, Railways, Radio, Football, Goal Umpiring and Lawn Bowls.
If something was going on in the sporting fraternity Grylls would be the first to know about it.
He would read just about every newspaper he could find and his radio we be on nearly 24/7.
He was very loyal to his beloved St. Kilda and Melbourne Storm Football teams and would attend their matches when he could.
We did a lot together over the years and it was always great to see him at my place for Christmas lunch.
Unfortunately I never had a chance to say goodbye but the memories that we shared we live on forever.
RIP Big Boy.
Peter Warren and family.
RIP Grillsy… Forever Remembered Graeme Maree and the Team at GHRealestate
Forever in our heart Grylles!
Will miss our many sports convos and the “Hey did you see what was in the paper this week?”
Our many railway history lessons and you always had a ear to listen!
I will miss all the cut out articles you kept for me lol you were one of a kind with a big heart!
A big gentle giant! You will be missed.
Take it easy up there 🔴⚫️⚪️
Gryllsy, one of Kerang’s characters!
Your passion and knowledge of sport across northwestern Victoria was unrivalled.
We’ll miss our 8am door knocks and 8pm phone calls about local and national sport, the stirring, the laughs and the fun of being umpires and friends.
You’ve left a hole in our lives that can’t be filled.
Up the Storm and Sainters!
It is with some sadness that I say, farewell, Gryllsie.
A respected former sports journalist with The Northern Times and associated publications.
Ken had an encyclopedic knowledge of a variety of sports and well known and respected throughout northern and north-central Victoria. His memory of statistics and sporting trivia was amazing and he was always a willing mentor for young journalists.
A die-hard St Kilda and Melbourne Storm supporter.
I will miss our chats in the shopping centre.
Rest peacefully, Ken.
Regards,
Ken Jenkins.
