To my dear 2nd cousin Susan and my Great Uncle Gavin sister of Joan Ethel Mills.
A man of substance and many stories to talk about with his brothers.
I remember all the boys loved nan and her cooking as I was often at nan and pops Douglas would invite all in to stay.
Railways was always a topic and the navy as they all had stories to tell apparently a few fists raised. Uncle Gavin you are a very respected man and loved may you RIP with our families and Iris xox
Loved Always

Dear Sue, We’re sending out deepest condolences to you and your family at this very sad time. Please know that even though we are not there with you in person today, we both are with you in spirit and are watching it live together. Catherine & Kohi.xx
My Uncle Gavin. l will always have fond memories of Gavin from a small age when he would visit my father ( Allan, who was his older brother ) at Kyogle in northern NSW. Sometimes he would arrive with his wife lris and a very young daughter Susan by car from Newcastle. If he came by himself on the train he would always insist that my brother Wayne and l would go with him to the railway station to say goodbye and when we would shake his hand on leaving he always would have a 5 and later on a 10 dollar note wrapped in his hand as a present, which made us feel like millionaires. What wonderful childhood memories of him and all his tricks!!
Later in life when we moved back to the north coast to live l would always go and see him at the seaside town of lluka, where he would recite all his wonderful Navy stories and never repeat the same story twice, whist eating prawns and drinking his favourite beverages! l will miss our long chats we had on the phone from Kerang.
Deepest condolences to Susan and family from Louise, Win and Wayne. l will never forget “my uncle Gavin”.
Loved your stories about the Navy, a life well lived! Now free from pain and suffering. Sympathy to the family. RIP Gav 🙏
We’re going to miss you Pa,
The many hours spent listening to your countless Navy stories and all your wise chats while watching The Chase, there was always a story to go along with each question that was asked on the show.
The occasions spent at the dinner table talking about all your trips over the years, the little giggle you made to yourself before you told us, always got up to some mischief…
I still remember our trips to your veggie patch to see what you had been growing, always bringing home something to add to our dinner.
The nights we would get take-away Chinese food and we would fight over the sweet and sour pork..
Your yearly birthday and Christmas cards that always read
‘To Mia,
Love Pa’
(made us laugh every time <3)
It's hard to say goodbye to someone you've known your whole life, thank you for everything, Pa, you were so dearly loved.
May you now rest free of pain, reunited with Nan. Hopefully with a stubby sitting there for you 🙂
A life well lived.
– Mia and Jack (grandkids) xx
